The short version: Orna does not sell your data, does not track you across websites, and does not collect any personally identifiable information. Everything stays on your device.
1. Who We Are
Orna is a Chrome browser extension developed by myzonesa and available at getorna.com. Orna helps users identify safe piercing jewelry by analyzing product pages in real time using the Association of Professional Piercers (APP) material safety standards.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
Orna does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:
- Personally identifiable information (name, email, address, phone number)
- Browsing history or web history
- Financial or payment information
- Authentication credentials or passwords
- Location data
- Health or medical information
- User communications
3. What Orna Does on Your Device
When you visit a jewelry product page, Orna reads the text content of that page locally on your device to identify materials, brand names, and product descriptions. This analysis happens entirely within your browser and the results are stored locally using Chrome's built-in storage API (chrome.storage.local).
Specifically, Orna:
- Reads product page text to detect jewelry materials and brand names
- Calculates a safety score based on APP material standards
- Stores the most recent analysis result locally on your device
- Stores affiliate click counts locally for performance tracking
None of this information is transmitted to any external server.
4. Affiliate Links
Orna may display links to APP-approved jewelry retailers. Some of these links may contain affiliate tracking parameters (such as ?ref=orna or ?affid=orna). These parameters allow partner retailers to recognize that a visit originated from Orna. Orna does not receive any personal information through these affiliate links — only aggregate commission data from the retailer.
Affiliate click counts are stored locally on your device only and are never transmitted to Orna's servers.
5. Partner Studio Data
The "Find a Studio" feature searches a built-in database of APP-certified piercing studios. This database is included within the extension itself and does not require any network request or data transmission to function.
6. Permissions We Request
Orna requests the following Chrome permissions:
- activeTab — to read the product page you are currently viewing
- storage — to save analysis results locally on your device
- scripting — to inject the safety score panel onto product pages
- alarms — to refresh studio and pricing data periodically
- notifications — to alert you to safety concerns or price changes
- host_permissions (<all_urls>) — piercing jewelry is sold across thousands of websites; Orna must be able to run on any product page you visit
7. Third-Party Services
Orna does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any similar tools.
8. Children's Privacy
Orna is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Orna extension after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
